Rosie loved flowers – enjoy every minute with those you love

Rosie and flowers

Rosie loved flowers. She lived in such a dark ugly place until she was rescued that she appreciated every bit of beauty the world had to offer her.

We often sat in the driveway on the concrete retaining wall and listened to the birds. Daisies grow there and some wild sown bulbs always sprouted leaves but never bloomed – I didn’t pay much attention to them once I realized they weren’t going to bloom.

Rosie, on the other hand, was fascinated by the tiny yellow buds on the leaves and would stare at them with those blue eyes of hers as if she knew what they were. Every day, even if we weren’t stopping to sit there, she would look for her leaves. One day her tail started wagging and she was bouncing in my arms. I followed her gaze and saw all of her yellow buds had opened into beautiful fragrant flowers. When I set her down, she tried to roll in them. I wish I had taken a photo.

Last year the buds didn’t bloom. This year, we had enough rain that two of the stalks bloomed. Although I am tempted to put them in Rosie’s stroller, I don’t want to cut them, the bees and hummingbirds are enjoying them too much. They are so golden, it was hard to get a good photo and the fragrance is amazing. I wish Rosie was here to see and smell them.

The point of this…take lots of pictures, smell every flower, enjoy every minute with those you love.

Peace,
Cinnamon
